Record players: Decades after they went out, vinyl records make a hipster comeback: After a long day at school, a boy enters his room, throws down his backpack and thumbs through his record collection. He chooses his favorite, “Houses of the Holy” by Led Zeppelin, and carefully sets it on the shiny red record player that he bought because it reminded him of a cherry-red Corvette. No, this isn’t a scene from the ’50s. This is senior Jake Sands, a record-player aficionado. Record players are back and a must-have for teens everywhere.

Tim Burgess to publish new book of vinyl adventures: Tim Burgess enlists Iggy Pop, David Lynch and Cosey Fanni Tutti to pay homage to vinyl and records shops in the digital age. Charlatans’ frontman and O Genesis label boss Tim Burgess has documented his life-long love affair with vinyl and record shops in new book Tim Book Two: Vinyl Adventures from Istanbul to San Francisco, due to be published by Faber & Faber in July. “The @TVDRSL Record Store App was like my map and compass for Tim Book Two,”Burgess tells TVD via Twitter.

Record Store Day 2016: Lewks has programme of live music: A morning of free live music has been organised by Lewks, in Downham, to celebrate Record Store Day 2016. It’s being held on Saturday, April 16, and RDS describes it as “the one day of the year when over 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture”.

Record Store Day To Be Celebrated By Music Stores Across Australia: Music stores right across Australia are preparing celebrations and event for Record Store Day 2016. Record Store Day is not just exclusive to the capital cities across Australia. Stores like $4 Vinyl in Wollongong, Abicus in Newcastle, Backbeat Records in Nambour, Black Swan Records in Ballarat, Bunker Records in Toowoomba and CD Centre in Launceston will all open their doors on April 16 for Record Store Day. Record Store Day is an annual global event. Music stores worldwide stimulate music fans to participate in the thrill of high definition sound from the physical CD or vinyl, as opposed to the inferior poor quality streaming or digital download.

Film on Vinyl: Record Store Day Preview: In 11 days, one of the most celebrated holidays in the world will take place, Record Store Day. Okay, maybe it isn’t the most celebrated in the world. But for audiophiles and record junkies, Record Store Day is like a second Christmas. While you never need a good reason to stroll into your local vinyl shop and bask in the glory of the oh-so-sweet vinyl, there are plenty of goodies to be found on this special occasion. This week I’m going to throw out my thoughts on the upcoming soundtracks making their debut this April, with a special focus on another stellar release from my friends at Spacelab 9.

Music Technology Record Store Day Event – April 16, 2016: Radio personality and Music expert Alan Cross has announced his next Music Technology Record Store Day Event, April 16.
