Apparently, 48% of people who buy vinyl records don’t actually listen to vinyl records. Weirder yet, 7% of people who buy vinyl records don’t even own a record player. What are people doing with all these unlistened-to vinyl albums? Here are some possibilities.

Even though old-style vinyl records are considered hip again in the United States, vinyl record stores in this country are far more rare than they used to be. NPR’s Eyder Peralta found one though in the sprawling Kenyatta Market in Nairobi, Kenya.

By not fighting against it, for one thing and also by allowing as much detail through the hi-fi chain as possible. Otherwise, you waste money, resources and time. Because vinyl is such a high resolution source, though, you want as much information to hit your ears as possible. You don’t want detail lost as the sounds travels down from the deck to the amp to the speakers. Ideally, you need speakers which are more on the neutral side, offering clarity and transparency.
