The time has come for the second installment of The Vinyl District Cleveland’s Weekend Shots. We’re raising our glasses to Butch Walker and the Black Widows, naming their show at the Beachland Ballroom & Tavern the Pick of The Weekend!
Butch Walker does it all: he’s a songwriter, recording artist and music producer. He’s worked with everyone, from Weezer to Saosin, Pete Yorn to Quietdrive. In short, the man’s a musical genius. Picking up his newest album, The Spade, it’s apparent why.
Walker writes catchy beats and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. His voice oozes rock an’ roll, bordering on gritty in that way that makes all the girls bat their lashes, but there’s also a country vibe that slinks out of his tunes. His music defies genre classifications, blending the best from pop, rock and country and creating something new. Something that begs you to quit your day job and just live your life free.
