TVD Ticket Giveaway: The Mountain Goats at 9:30 Club, 3/25

John Darnielle and his band The Mountain Goats take a break from all of their recent philanthropy to play 9:30 Club this Friday (3/25), and we have a chance for you to win a pair of tickets.

In typical fashion from the band that brought us This Year,” the go-to song in times of crisis, they’ve been busy helping others in need. Just a few days ago, the band included a one-of-a-kind demo tape in an auction to raise funds for Japan, and a few days before that, Darnielle recorded a video of himself performing “There Is Power in a Union” to support labor unions in their dispute with Wisconsin’s state government over collective bargaining rights.

Just last month, Darnielle also performed a couple songs at Planned Parenthood’s Stand Up For Women’s Health Rally in Manhattan.

Darnielle is currently writing a book when he’s not doing all these good deeds or touring in support of The Mountain Goats’ new album All Eternals DeckStream the new album at NPR until its release through Merge Records on March 29th.

On their website, The Mountain Goats talk about increasing compassion as they show love to Japan:

The Mountain Goats would like to step into the pulpit for a second here and say that if there actually were a devil, his name would be Compassion Fatigue. We must resist the devil, even though 1) there is no devil and 2) the devil is all kinds of cool.

To win the tickets, simply name your answer in the comments below: your fave song with Devil in the title.

We’d rather ask you to name your favorite song with Compassion in the title, but we figured that even for our bright readers, that’s kinda hard.

The winner will be chosen Thursday (3/24) at noon.
