Cover Up with Olivia Mancini & the Mates
(It’s a ticket giveaway!)

Olivia Mancini & the Mates are joining us all week in celebration of the art and nuance of the cover song in advance of Friday night’s show (8/12) at the Black Cat.

TVD has YOU covered with two pairs of tickets to Friday’s show in exchange for your favorite cover in the comments to this post. We’ll choose our winners first thing on Friday morning. Ticket winners will ALSO receive a free copy of the band’s new 7-inch single, “For Ricky.”

“Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” by Bob Dylan (off The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, 1963)

A good example of the mutable quality of music, Wikipedia tells me that Bob based the tune of this song on a melody taught to him by another folk singer, Paul Clayton.

I’m one of five jillion people who cover it, right up there with the likes of Johnny Cash, Peter, Paul, and Mary, and, you know, Cher.
