What’s In Store DC:
Dog Days of Summer
Are Not Over

The construction on 18th Street is killing me. I don’t want to ride my bike down the endless strip of potholes, and I’m sure it’s worse driving a car through that mess. There is never any parking; it gets backed up in the area that starts just after Smash and Crooked Beat.

“Did you know it has been going on since Pepco began digging up the street in June of 2010? We know we have heard from a lot of you saying that you have been avoiding the Adams Morgan area for several months because the construction has caused a lack of parking and constant traffic gridlock. But it will have to end sometime. Hopefully sooner than later,” says Bill of Crooked Beat Records.

@Crooked Beat Records:
For the next two days, today, Wednesday, August 3rd, and tomorrow, Thursday, August 4th, they will be having their biggest sale ever. They are calling it the “Never Ending Construction Sale.”

Everything sticker priced $9.99 and above will be discounted $5 at the register. That means if you buy a record for $14.99, it will be discounted to $9.99. A record for $15.99 will be discounted to $10.99, $16.99 down to $11.99, and so on. Vinyl boxsets will be discounted $15.00.

AMAZEBALLS!!!! It’s like Christmas in um… August!

Since vinyl is now 99% of Crooked Beat’s total sales and has been their main selling product for several years, they have decided to discontinue CDs. Most of the remaining CDs (except local artists) have already been discounted down to $7.99 or less.

The Never Ending Construction Sale will not apply to online customers. To get the discount, you must come to the physical location on 18th Street. Also, holds will not be permitted. It will be first come, first served with no limit on how much you buy.

@Som Records:

It’s that time again for the always sweltering and over-populated Dog Days of Summer sale on 14th street. Som Records have joined in the festivities. They will have DJs Saturday and Sunday, sales all weekend, and a performance by Nicole Atkins on Sunday at 3PM, which we strongly recommend you attend.

Neal also got in a whole bunch of new DJ records from Groove Distribution and Fat Beats last week, so there are likely some left in the store to dig through. Italo, electro, house, hip-hop, and breaks 12″s to burn up the dancefloor.

@Smash Records:
Hey, one of the best “pop punk” bands EVER is playing the shop this Friday. Please stop on by and help M.O.T.O. out on their tour along with Baltimore’s HOLLYWOOD (you can also check them out at the Big Neck/Windian Mini-Fest at Marcatus on Sunday) and DC’s Highway Cross. The show starts promptly at 7pm and will be over by 10pm for those that want to catch Archers Of Loaf at the Black Cat.
