TVD Ticket Giveaway: Drive-By Truckers
with Lucero at the 9:30 Club, 12/29 (SOLD OUT)

With 2011 coming to a close, the 9:30 Club is delivering an extra-special treat for their final show(s) of the year: A three day stint with the Drive-By Truckers, coming to the club with a different opener each night!

Today we have the chance for you to win tickets to the SOLD OUT opening night on December 29th with Lucero.

Drive-By Truckers is an Alabama-based alternative country band that have been together since 1996, with over a dozen albums to their name. This band isn’t a flash in the pan; they know how to create a good country song, and they know how to make it well, including the songs from their new album this year, Go Go Boots.

Equally Southern, a Tennessee alt-country band that isn’t shy about their love of whiskey and the ladies, Lucero will be the perfect rabble-rouser of an opening act before Drive-By Truckers takes the stage.

To enter to win your chance at seeing DBT on this first night of their three-day stay, tell us in the comments below, a country song that always gets you in a nice Southern, whiskey-soaked, honky-tonk state of mind.

For me, it would have to be “Wagon Wheel” by Old Crow Medicine show.

This giveaway ends Tuesday, December 27th, at noon so enter now, y’all!

All my exes live in texas! George Strait. Makes me want to twirl around and swill some whiskey and bad decisions straight into my liver. Also, IT’S BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR WEEKS. But it’s ok, at least i don’t have jingle bell rock on repeat like last year. shudder.

Lil’ Ole Wine Drinker Me, by Merle Haggard

You mean besides Kiss the Bottle?

I’d have to go with “Old No. 7″, by Devil Makes Three. “Wagon Wheel” by way of “Desperation Row”

I gotta go with Shooter Jennings’ “Hair of the Dog”, or DBT’s “Women Without Whiskey”. Both are a little more on the introspective side, but both go equally well with a front porch and a tumbler of whiskey.

Emmylou Harris covering George Jones’ “Feeling Single, Seeing Double”. A great cover of a song that should exist if only for its title.
