TVD Ticket Giveaway: Regina Spektor at the Lyric Opera House, 10/2

So, who wouldn’t fall in love with quirky girls who look like Kristen Schaal on a good day and write piano tunes that would make Elton John nervous?

People who haven’t heard of Regina Spektor. The anti-folk rebel is coming to The Lyric Opera House on October 2nd, and we’ve got tickets to give away to two lucky fans. Tickets for the show will go on sale this Friday, Aug 17th, at 10 AM through Ticketmaster, but we’ve got your chance to win a pair of tickets before you can even buy them. If you enjoy amazing songwriters that have more charm than Emma Stone, this is something you definitely don’t want to miss.

Since she began her rise to fame in the early 2000’s, Spektor has been winning fans the world over with her own cup of strange and obscure, yet enduringly sweet pop music. The Moscow transplant acquired worldwide acclaim from her 2006 album Begin to Hope and its resulting single “Fidelity” and kept her following coming back with 2008’s Far, another out-there yet accessible spoonful of educated pop.

This year marks the release of her sixth album What We From the Cheap Seats, an odyssey into past songs and old melodies that Spektor has reworked. The songstress has been tearing through the states promoting the collection of aged ideas that have been freshly spun and lands at the Lyric this fall.

So how can you score tickets to seeing the relentless charm of Regina Spektor? It’s simple! In the comments below, tell us your favorite artist with a lot of charm.

Since I’m a sucker for girls who like to cover classy Christmas songs, I’m going to go with Zooey Deschanel.

The winner will be chosen at noon on Wednesday, August 15th.

I'm a little in love with Garfunkel and Oates. Ukes and potty mouths work for me, what can I say?

Jane from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes is a great entertainer.

I really enjoy Grace Potter she can sing fast tempoed rock songs and then slow it down while all performing amazingly on stage.

Mat Kearney, for his incredibly disarming nature.  I've now seen him so many times that the last time I talked to him after a show, he greeted me as "a good friend of mine."  He knows how to please a crowd (e.g. jumping down and singing with the audience for Runaway Car) and he absolutely loves his fans.  An all around class act and charming human being.

Lana Del Rey. Who doesn't love a good self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra?

Am I allowed to say Regina Spektor?! Haha...besides the obvious, I'd have to say that Ellie Goulding has a lot of charm and talent.

Alina Simone. Of if "working his fearsomeness awesomely" counts as charm maybe Nick Cave?

It will ALWAYS be Grace Slick (& the Great Society/Jefferson Airplane). The original off-the-cuff diva, the OG of bad girls flipping off the menfolk, the perfect contrarian. The absence of her charm makes her stand above the rest.

I'd have to go with Sufjan Stevens - him and his music are very charming/endearing to me.

Does it have to be a girl? Because I want to put Bruno Mars in my pocket and carry him around with me - he's so little and adorable!!

I'm going to go with a whole band: Scars on 45. They were so fun during the show, at one point they actually pointed us out in the balcony, and said: "You up there...yes you guys, dancing your heart out...Thank you!" I thought that was super charming; they are definitely crowd pleasers.

Current charmer is Grace Potter!  Saw her at 930 club a few years back when she was an OPENER!  What a sweetheart.
