TVD Ticket Giveaway: Americanarama Festival with Bob Dylan, Wilco, My Morning Jacket at Merriweather Post Pavilion, 7/23

Not looking to stop his outstanding career anytime soon, Bob Dylan and his band are headlining this year’s Americanarama Festival of Music. The summer tour also features rock bands Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Ryan Bingham, and more. This tour makes a stop at the Merriweather Post Pavilion on July 23, and we’re giving away a pair of lawn tickets.

For five decades, Bob Dylan has continuously influenced the world of rock music. His name is a familiar name in any household that listens to music. The American musician and culture icon has never ceased to “wow” fans and music-lovers everywhere with his consistently different albums. The rock legend’s latest release in 2012, TEMPEST, was his thirty-fifth studio album.

Accompanying the 72-year old singer-songwriter and his band are Wilco, My Morning Jacket, and Ryan Bingham. The Chicago-based band formed in 1994 and released their eighth studio album in 2011, titled The Whole Love. The album was nominated in the category for the Best Rock Album on the 54th Grammy Awards.

My Morning Jacket originates from Louisville, Kentucky. Their seventh album, Circuital, was also released in 2011. Circuital marked the return of My Morning Jacket to their Kentucky roots, having been recorded in the gym of a Louisville church that was converted into a recording studio.

Americana singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham is a third artist who is sharing the stage with Bob Dylan this summer. Compared to the other bands, he is the newcomer to the music scene, having started his career in 2007. Though he started later than the rest, Bingham is just as accomplished, having won an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Critic’s Choice Award, and a Grammy in 2010 for his song “The Weary Kind,” which served as the title track for the critically acclaimed film Crazy Heart.

The Americanarama Festival of Music Tour features a ton of great musicians that you wouldn’t want to miss seeing live. To win a pair of lawn tickets to the Merriweather Post Pavilion when it comes on July 23, drop a comment below naming your favorite music festival. I’ve always wanted to go check out the Vans Warped Tour.

The winner will be chosen at noon on Thursday, July 18. Tickets are still available.

I will always have a soft spot for Coachella because I saw so many amazing shows there over 5 visits.

This is a little embarrassing to admit, but I’ve never been to a music festival. At some point in the future, when I go, I think I would go to Bonnaroo. It seems like a neat one.

    Gotta be All Good!

Mixtape Festival in Hershey or Bonnaroo

  • sbarnett037

My favorite music festival is Freefest – great to have so many diverse artists visit our area and support a great cause at the same time!

It was All Good until they moved it to Columbus.

  • ManderMarie

I love all of the big name festivals below but to get the true festival feeling you have to go to Nelsons Ledges to see a festival!

  • cleverdove

I would have to say Voodoo in New Orleans, I had the best time at the show and then I was also in New Orleans which is just extra awesome on the awesome cake.

  • heyitselvia

SO into Rockstar Mayhem (I mean, can I get a Rob Zombie anyone?)

But in all honesty, definitely Freefest. I love how it’s a festival for anyone and everyone and that it benefits homeless youth makes it that much better. Most people don’t know about our large population of young people out on the street unless it happens to them personally, so it’s nice to get the awareness out.

  • Nate

    FloydFest was my favorite.

  • Jillian

Coachella: Love the variety of music and the awesome venue.

  • SLINGBLADE

Just went to Firefly Festival and it was awesome!

Lollapalooza, because it combines an amazing city with some great artists. Freefest is quickly becoming a favorite as well though thanks to the price (or lack thereof) and the reliably alluring booking.

Since I’ve seen Dylan, MMJ, and Wilco at Bonnaroo, its hard not to pick that fest.  However, the heat and sun make it a tough festival!!  So, I’m going with Moogfest.  Love getting dressed up for Halloween and dancing with the other crazies in Asheville!

  • fatty_magoo

As an avid music festival goer, my favorite music festival thus far is Coachella. It was everything I thought it would be and more!

  • mdphunk

Jam Cruise is the best festival I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to a lot of them. It’s the most intimate, has the greatest community of fans who go year after year, there is no concept of “backstage”, the artists all want to be there because the collaborative spirit, and the location is beautiful. I’ve had many of the best weeks of my life aboard that boat.

  • dpsingle

I’ve always wanted to go to Voodoo Fest down in New Orleans. The name always gets me plus the lineups have been pretty solid, too.
