TVD’s The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel

Greetings from Laurel Canyon!

This week’s playlist ponders, “If only I could just get over the hump.” Oh man, some days feel like such a climb—just getting over that fucking wall. It’s likely god’s joke. After all, what happens when you do?

That’s probably what John Kay must be thinking each year when The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducts some lame ass ’80s band. Who could be cooler than the band who “popped a lot of pills” and made the music for Easy Rider?

You know I’ve smoked a lot of grass / O’Lord, I’ve popped a lot of pills / But I mever touched nothin’ / That my spirit could kill / You know, I’ve seen a lot of people walkin’ ’round / With tombstones in their eyes / But the pusher don’t care / Ah, if you live or if you die

Do you remember the days when a Saturday night at the movies would show a kid where and how to get high? I better Peter Perrett still remembers. How incredible is his new song?

No matter, I got deals to make and hills to climb.
