Upcoming In-Store Performances (always all-ages)

GRACE POTTER & The Nocturnals – Thursday, February 24th @ 12PM noon
We’re very excited to announce an acoustic performance by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals at noon this Thursday! Compared to Tina Turner fronting the Rolling Stones, Grace & The Nocturnals have stayed on the road consistently for the last 5 years building up a devoted fan base and rocking joints from coast to coast. After 2 self-released albums the band signed to Hollywood Records and delivered their self-titled statement of purpose last summer and they’ve been reaping the rewards of all that hard work with sold out shows including their gig at The Cannery this Thursday. We were lucky enough to score this lunch time in-store so you still have a chance to see this dynamic band. Take your lunch break, call in sick or skip class and come rock with us!

DAVID MAYFIELD PARADE – Thursday, March 3rd @ 6PM
David Mayfield was a singer, lead guitarist and contributing songwriter to Cadillac Sky, who recently split up, but he’s been playing music his whole life. From his years in the family band, along with younger sister Jessica Lea Mayfield, to playing the Grand Ole Opry as a hired guitar slinger, joining Cadillac Ranch and working with producer Dan Auerbach and now, finally, focusing on his own music. The Avett Brothers are fans and big supporters. David sat in numerous times on the last Avetts tour and Scott & Seth return the favor by singing on the “David Mayfield Parade” debut album. Don’t miss this chance to get in on the ground floor of this great new emerging talent. It wasn’t that packed the first time the Avett Brothers did and in-store at Grimey’s and look where they are now!

TRISTEN & The Ringers – Saturday, March 5th @ 5PM
Sweet! We’re so excited the rest of the world is now getting to discover what we’ve known for a few years – Tristen is one of the best singers and songwriters playing music today (and damn cute to boot!) Her debut album, Charlatans At The Garden Gate, is out now. It was recorded at Battle Tapes here in town and produced by Tristen and Jeremy Ferguson and it features many of our fave musicians in town including our own Rollum Haas (The Features). The critics are impressed and you will be too. “Her strength seems to reside in her ability to be musically versatile. Utilizing various orchestrations, Tristen weaves a glistening web of thoughtful and extremely mature melodies that tremble with undeniable power.” -American Songwriter. “She brings a blossoming pop sensibility to her witty, not-as-sweet-as-it-seems country.”
-Wall Street Journal. Join us on a Saturday afternoon as Tristen and her ringers host beer:30 and pick up her album asap.

JESSICA LEA MAYFIELD – Thursday, March 24th @ 6PM
2011 looks to be Jessica Lea Mayfield’s year. The acclaimed indie-folk singer-songwriter
just released her Dan Auerbach-produced sophomore album “Tell Me” and she’s performing this Friday, Feb. 25th on the Letterman show. She’s playing Bonnaroo. Spin magazine just pegged her as “next big thing” (and they called her a badass!) Rolling Stone mag also named her as an “artist to watch” and claims “At 21, Mayfield looks like an ingénue but sings like a worldly-wise veteran, picking apart relationships with the sly eroticism of someone who’s lived a little…[Tell Me] is a disarming collision of stark country balladry, dynamic alternative rock and arty electronic pop.” Oh yeah, NPR has also done a feature on Jessica recently. What’s all the buzz about? Real, honest music from an uncompromising artist with vision. We’ll see you here on March, 24.
