TVD Giveaway: Leave a Comment to Win Free Tickets to Wanda Jackson At Tipitina’s

Sunday night, the Queen of Rockabilly makes her first appearance in New Orleans since her latest album, The Party Ain’t Over, which was produced by Jack White of the White Stripes and the Dead Weather, was released.

Jackson first began recording while she was still in high school in the 1950s. She is regarded as one of the first female rock ‘n’ roll singers. She was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 as an early influence.

Though she is in her seventies, Jackson still puts on an impressive show. As my colleague Geraldine Wyckoff likes to say, “don’t miss the legends.” This lady surely is one of the greats.

Holly Golightly & The Broke-Offs is the opening act. This is an early show.  The doors are at 7 PM and the show starts at 8 PM.

To win a pair of tickets, leave a comment below. Winners will be chosen at random and notified Saturday morning.

Here she is performing with Jack White on Conan a few months back.

Hey Baby WOOO, maybe, baby for a nickle or a dime !!!

  • Ron O’Connor

I remember her video from a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame. It’s a real stand out. I waited there to see it repeat. I understand that Wanda didn’t quite fit in with what they expected at the Grand Ole Opry. The greats often break the mold.

I had to refresh the page times to view this page for some reason, however, the information here was worth the wait.

  • Michael Dominici

I like the high voltage punched up rock sound that Jack White utilized with Wanda Jackson, who stepped up big time in every way. Also, this a brilliant double billing with the sensational Holly Gollightly, who in her own way has created a ravishingly bad ass approach to fat back blues.

I’m not sure exactly why but this website is loading very slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
