TVD Recommends: Camile Baudoin at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro tonight, 11/15

This evening, the former guitarist for the Radiators celebrates the release of his first solo release. He performs with his acoustic trio, the Living Rumors, at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro. Sets are at 8 and 10 PM.

Hot the heels of a “sorta” reunion this past Friday night with fellow Radiators Dave Malone and Frank Bua, Baudoin will put aside the searing electric guitar licks that made him a key component of the iconic New Orleans “funky rock” band in favor of the pastoral sounds of his youth.

Though he lived in New Orleans, he has fond memories of summers and vacations spend with his extended family in rural Louisiana. The songs and sounds of the country form the foundation of his new recording, Old Bayou Blues. The record is nominated for a Grammy award in the “Best Folk Album” category.

In order to recreate songs that he heard at the knee of his uncle, who performed in the Dufrene Brothers, Baudoin needed a fiddle player. So he recruited Harry Hardin—a player many people know as a founding member of Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes. Dave Doucet, a guitar player with the legendary Cajun band Beausoleil rounds out the trio.
