TVD Recommends:
The Freret Street
Oyster Jam, 1/19

Freret Street has been developing into a dining destination over the past few years. More recently two clubs have opened starting a wave of music destinations as well. This Sunday, The Freret Street Publiq House takes a step towards combining the two.

Beginning at 11 AM, numerous food vendors will be set up in the large parking lot on the downtown side of the new club. A stage will be set up as well featuring three bands.

The Mardi Gras Indian Orchestra kicks things off at noon followed by the New Orleans Suspects. Naturally, Raw Oyster Cult closes things out.

Here are some more details: this event, the first of its kind in uptown New Orleans, will feature a giant raw oyster bar featuring some of uptown’s most iconic shuckers including Michael Rogers, a five time shucking champ formerly of Uglesich’s (see video below), Vinny D, the man, the myth, the legend from Cooter Brown’s, Thomas, the maestro of Pascale’s Manale, and the soon to be famous oyster shooters by Two Girls and a Shuck!

Multiple oyster dishes and other delicacies brought to you by Woody’s Fish Tacos and friends including Miss Linda Green, Chef Jerry Harkins of Clancy’s, and Po-Boy Fest award winners Jason Seither of Seither’s Seafood and “King of the Drunken Pig” Sven Vorkauf will also be served.
