The Best of The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel

Jon Sidel is still in the midst of SXSW and will return next week with a 2013 festival recap. —Ed.

Greetings from Laurel Canyon!

I’m sure none of you batted an eye when I played hooky from last week’s Idelic Hour. My laptop and I had momentarily run out of gas. The time of year, I guess? (I’d say “the calm before the storm.”)

Next week a shit-ton of us are charging to Austin—The Sutter’s Creek of indie rock begins now. It’s the annual SXSW—over 666,000,000 bands will saddle up and ride to Texas. Join us—it’s a social networking gold rush; a giant Red Bull-infused, Doritos sponsored, international keg party.

If you can’t make the scene, The Idelic Hour will be in full force, trucking from party to party, band to band, folkster to DJ. So, meet me on the street or enjoy from the comforts of home.

Here’s some of the bands I’ll be checking out (or not): Jake Bugg, Broncho, Christopher Owens, Austra, Spirit Family Reunion, Peace, Social Studies, Alt-J, Rhye, Hanni El Khatib, Toy, Beware Of Darkness, Reignwolf, Turbogeist, Fidlar, Dune Rats, Radkey, The Coup, DIIV, UMO, and King Tuff

The Idelic Hit of the Week:
