TVD Premiere: Isle of Rhodes, “Shoulders”

“Shoulders” is about coming to terms with aging.”

“In my teens and early twenties I had no sense of lost time, only that some day in the future I might just “figure it out.” Then one day it hits you. You never figure anything out. You just get older. People know you from what you’re doing and what you’ve done, and that’s what you are. You can’t get time back. The universal truth is that everything grows older and dies.

At the same time the song also deals with sharing your life. I imagined myself in old age, staring at my wife. She has aged with me, and we share in our glances the history of our lives. We reflect on our shared journey, without a sense of accomplishment, but perhaps with a sense of melancholy. That journey is destined to end.” —Robert Farren

Wistful, engaging, and damn catchy, we’re delighted to debut the first track from Isle of Rhodes’ self-titled EP, “Shoulders” available on April 23rd. The EP is a follow-up to the Brooklyn duo’s debut, All Rivers and Oceans, and will be available from the band’s website.
