TVD Ticket Giveaway: The Faint at the 9:30 Club, 5/20

2008 marked what appeared to be the end of Nebraska band, The Faint. Five years later, the band made a resurgence with the release of a 4-song EP titled Preversions, which ultimately led up to their new LP set for release this coming April.

After releasing their fifth studio album, Fasciinatiion, the Nebraskan foursome, currently composed of Todd Fink, Clark Baechle, Jacob Thiele, and Dapose, realized their songwriting process became somewhat of a dud. Seeing this as a sign for a hiatus, The Faint faded into the background, its members going off on their own creative endeavors. A year after regrouping in 2013, the band is releasing their long-awaited sixth album titled Doom Abuse.

Doom Abuse will be released on April 8. Later that next month, The Faint will be heading out on a nationwide tour that includes a stop at the 9:30 Club on Tuesday, May 20. Haven’t gotten your tickets yet? No worries! We’re giving some away!

Written with a new mindset and creative process, Doom Abuse is reflective of a different than usual sound for The Faint. Taking on a more raw, punk-rock feel than their previous albums, Glide Magazine says “the birth of Doom Abuse in many ways, is in parallel with a rebirth of the band itself.”

To win tickets to see The Faint at the 9:30 Club on Tuesday, May 20, drop a comment below naming a band that has recently made a musical comeback. I’m going to go with Queen, who will tour with Adam Lambert this summer!

One winner will be chosen a week from today, March 31! Tickets are still available for purchase.

For me, the biggest musical comeback has to be Kylie Minogue! New album just got released and has some KILLER people who worked on it. Sia, Pharrell, and way more!

Justin Timberlake! No album since 2007 and he blew 2013 out of the water. I saw him with JayZ in concert last year and he blew my mind. I saw the faint almost 7 years ago in San Francisco on New Years. They were incredible and jumping on a plane at 6 a.m. after that concert with no sleep was well worth it. Would love to see them again in DC!

In a way, Johnny Cash is making a comeback. You often hear him played on jukebox’s and on the sound systems of shady bars. The new kids these days think his original sound is inspirational to modern folk and roots rock artists.

My Bloody Valentine. Dropping an album on a Saturday at midnight out of the blue more than twenty years after their last album was so great!!

I was going to say MBV, but since it has already been taken I’m going off kilter with Boy George.  His new album is kind of fun!
