TVD Premiere: Lily Lambert, “Karma”

Using a light-hearted approach to a heavy subject, Lily Lambert’s “Karma” applies some Nashville charm to the well-known mystical law.

Lambert’s newest single “Karma” boasts a quirky Nashville twang with an unmistakable retro flavor. The veneer of the vulnerable subject matter ultimately allows its message to be delivered in an accessible pop format—something Lambert experimented with on last year’s anthemic “Life Goes On,” but honed in on with her current album So Far.

Lambert’s’ newest ode to tolerance lands somewhere between the bright pop of Mary Hopkin and the mystic reticence of The Singing Nun while remaining true to the songstress’ positive outlook. Her talent for catchy ditties imbued with universal integrity recently earned her an IMEA Folk Album of the Year Award—honoring a talent not often found in the current internet infatuated musical culture.
