Dum Dum Girls’ Dee Dee Penny: In-store with TVD at DC’s Som Records

If there’s a common thread that runs among the divergent artists and bands who have joined us for a trip to a record store for our filmed series—from Ian Hunter to Gwar to Charli XCX—it’s the love of the culture and shared experience that thrives at your local mom and pop record shops.

We’re over the moon that vinyl’s “back,” and for us and the bands and the musicians, its authenticity reigns supreme at a record store.

Which brings us to Dee Dee Penny of Dum Dum Girls who popped by Washington, DC’s Som Records late last year to join us for a record rummage. With promo duties all but wrapped up for 2014’s exceptional Sub Pop release, Too True, the motivation was to simply underscore the need for a thriving, brick and mortar record store culture.

And of course…to buy some records.
