TVD Ticket Giveaway: White Arrows in the city and venue of your choice

Touring to promote In Bardo, LA-based White Arrows is bringing their ’80s synth island party to venues across the country. See a gig you’d like to find yourself at swaying underneath the stage lights? We’ve got a pair of tickets for 3 readers to the venue of their choosing.

White Arrows is the ultimate pseudo-tribal, rave in the desert, west-coast electronica outfit; think Carlos Castaneda in a neon windbreaker. After their 2012 album Dry Land is Not a Myth, last year’s In Bardo feels hefty at just 11 tracks.

Any one of them has the chops to become that rogue indie party song to grace mainstream radio stations and college Spotify playlists, especially the album’s second track “We Can’t Ever Die.” The lyrics tell a tale of 21st century mysticism, libido, and youthful immortality. With its sing-along friendly chorus, this track could snuggle up comfortably with the likes of Yeasayer, Passion Pit, and Vampire Weekend.

In Tibetan Buddhism, “bardo” signifies liminality, or movement in the space between death and rebirth. According to the album’s press release, “it marks the end of one thing and the beginning of another. It represents an evolution.” In Bardo walks this musically intermediate state in its combination of wailing vibrato vocals, faithfully executed synth programs, and percussion.

Even so, the band is careful not to ditch the pulse-driving guitar that propels White Arrows towards the rebirth end of bardo.

Enter to win tickets to see White Arrows in the city and on the date of your choice from the tour itinerary below by leaving a comment citing the track—older or brand new—you’d most like to hear performed live AND the city and date where you’d like to catch the show. We’ll choose three winners for a pair of tickets each—one week from today, January 20, 2015. Winners will be notified directly via email.
