TVD Premiere: MIRK, “Marathon”

Albany-based hip hop heads MIRK deliver venomous flows over a gospel tinged ode to the grind.

We have the pleasure of premiering their ambitious single “Marathon” which showcases the MC and his six-piece band’s action packed, musically driven pallete. Mixing plaintive singing over world beats and bombastic trumpets, the upstate New Yorkers strike a fine balance between introspective pop and street soul. The track is one of four singles streaming in support of the forthcoming full-length Run, set for a February 2015 release.

MIRK—the band’s namesake and frontman Joshua Mirk—has earned a reputation producing for the likes of Jay-Z, Petey Pablo, Eamon, Ciara, and Young Jeezy and handled writing, recording, mixing, and performing duties for Run which was tracked at his private studio. While MIRK shows supreme confidence behind the board, once he steps to the mic to rap it becomes obvious that he can handle himself as the star of the show.
