TVD Radar: Depeche Mode to hand over the keys to their Facebook page to fans for a year

VIA PRESS RELEASE | In a video posted on the Depeche Mode Facebook page, lead singer Dave Gahan announced today that the band will be handing over their Facebook page to their fans for a year. Starting today, any fan interested in becoming the page’s administrator for a day can apply at takeover.depechemode.com. The band will be recruiting hundreds of curators from their diverse fan base—one curator per day for 365 days.

Each selected fan will be assigned a day to take charge of the page. They can then share their Depeche Mode story by posting personal anecdotes, videos, concert photos, covers of the band’s songs, or other Depeche Mode-related content. Through this, the band hopes to uncover old, new, and never-before-told stories and content to be shared with the page’s millions of fans and followers. On select days throughout the year, curatorial duties will fall to special guests, including people close to the band and several high-profile artists and celebrities with a special connection or affinity for the band.

This announcement comes shortly after the release of Depeche Mode’s single “Where’s The Revolution,”the first new music from the band in four years and the first offering from their upcoming album, Spirit, which will be released March 17th via Columbia Records. The album has already garnered critical acclaim in early previews, with Q magazine calling Spirit “the most energized Depeche Mode album in years.”

Depeche Mode will support this release with an extensive world tour—the Global Spirit Tour. The tour kicks off May 5th in Stockholm, Sweden and will stop at stadiums across Europe before continuing beyond summer with shows in North and South America.
