The K’s,
The TVD First Date

“There’s just something about going into a record shop, searching through thousands of LPs—most older than us, passed through generations and hoping you bag a limited edition copy that no one has spotted.”

“The first vinyl I came across was News of the World by Queen—it was handed down to me by my dad. I remember him saying, “Keep hold of this, it’ll be worth a bob in a few years time.” 20 years later, worth a whopping £30, I should be able to retire from it in the year 100,000. The favourite records in my collection are probably Graceland, Paul Simon and Parallel Lines, Blondie.” —Jordan

“The first time I remember seeing records I must’ve been about 6 or 7.”

“My dad had cases and cases of them in various wardrobes throughout the house. The one that sticks out in that memory is always Never Mind The Bollocks… by the Sex Pistols. I thought the cover was cool as fuck before I’d even heard the music! As I got older I started buying my own records, there’s just something about vinyl that nothing else comes close to. In the end we got so obsessed with vinyl we even ended up naming our band after our local record shop!” —Jamie

“I’ve always been around vinyl since being a kid—my dad was a DJ in the ’90s and I’ve always been told I was named Dexter following a euphoric night my mum and dad had behind the decks playing house music.”

“From growing up watching my dad spin wax every Friday while my mum danced in our living room, to being passed my nan’s collection of original Beatles vinyl, it’s always been a part of my life. It’s the best, physical form of music. I have developed and added to the inherited vinyl from my nan and have a personal collection myself. I cannot wait to inherit my dad’s extensive collection that sits above the decks in our living room. Full of white labels, one off vinyl and absolute bangers! Not to mention The K’s two limited edition coloured presses.” —Dexter

“I first came across vinyl when I used to visit my grandparents in Ireland and I was told if I broke them I’d be thrown out! I remember hiding in my grandads as a kid and finding boxes of them.”

“I first used one to frisbee at my little sisters head actually, but then I quickly realised how fucking cool they were and I started listening to them on my grandad’s record player every time I went round. He had loads of top vinyl and all, from Bob Dylan,The Boss, Prince, Elvis, The Stones, The Jam, Bob Marley—too many to name. So that’s where I first fell in love!” —Ryan
