Homework’s latest single “It’s All Over” is an insight into what’s to come on the Edinburgh band’s forthcoming debut album 13 Towers and we like what we’re hearing.
The band is placing the Scottish capital firmly in the hearts of electro synth pop fans as they pull from a myriad of different influences. There’s an element of LCD Soundsystem here but it’s the single’s hypnotic undertones that are more reminiscent of Hot Chip. The video matches the music’s trancelike, mechanical feel, but the band prove they’re not making boring linear dance-pop here as the track breaks down into something more akin to Cut Copy.
This single will be more than enough to whet your appetite for their debut long player at the end of the month. Homework is heralding the way for the new wave of Scottish electro tinged pop—an exciting prospect for 2013.
