The 20 Best Record Stores in Los Angeles (and Beyond): Record collecting culture is alive and well in Los Angeles. In fact, with venerable institutions such as Rockaway and Poo-Bah still going strong, and new shops opening all the time, you could argue that L.A. now has the best assemblage of record stores in the country. And as more and more music consumers grow disenchanted with the ephemeral nature of downloads and streaming, that assemblage is likely to keep growing (though perhaps not at the breakneck pace of 2009-2012, when it seemed like every vacant storefront in Northeast L.A. was destined to be filled with turntables and old 45s).

Pink Floyd announce second batch of vinyl reissues, Next month sees three 1970s albums available again: Pink Floyd have announced the reissue of three of their 1970s albums on vinyl. The reissues are the second batch of Pink Floyd albums to be available again on vinyl, after the band’s first four albums were re-released in June. The latest run of vinyl sees ‘Atom Heart Mother’, ‘Meddle’ and ‘Obscured By Clouds’ reissued on heavyweight 180g vinyl on September 23.

In the groove: Czech firm tops list of world’s vinyl record producers, Once a dusty communist factory, GZ Media has tapped vinyl’s rebirth to become a £76m outfit pressing 25m records a year: All Zdeněk Pelc wanted, as record sales succumbed to the hi-tech onslaught of the digital age, was to head Europe’s final vinyl production factory. Now the ambition to be last man standing where others have fallen has bloomed into an unlikely business success that would have been unimaginable when his once old-fashioned plant was the heart of the former communist Czechoslovakia’s state-run record industry.

Designer’s Personal Branding Identity Includes A Playable Vinyl Record: Based in London, graphic designer and illustrator Rhox has created an attractive personal branding identity that we think would definitely make a great impression. In addition to a striking logo that is built around the letter ‘R’, this branding project also features a beautiful decorative pattern and the use of the color gold, which makes it looks both edgy and sophisticated. Including a business card, a CV, a project agreement document and portfolio, this stylish branding set also comes with a playable vinyl record that is packaged in a unique hexagonal sleeve.

Henry Rollins: Geeking Out Over Krautrock in Dusseldorf: …Slowboy Records is a vendor on Discogs and a record store in Dusseldorf from which I have bought more than once. Its selection is beyond impressive. Road manager Ward contacted Slowboy while I was in Dusseldorf for a show and asked if the store was open. The owners told Ward the store was closed and that it was actually moving, but they’d open for us. We would be the last two customers in the present location.
