For Mike Ramirez, there’s nothing better than dropping a needle in the groove of a record. “That’s what makes the magic happen,” he said. “That’s what it’s all about. For me, it’s magic. It’s always been magic.” Ramirez recently opened Needle ‘N Groove Records at 17 Jefferson St. in downtown Oswego, directly across the street from the Oswego Public Library. The store had a soft opening on June 7, which was opening day of the Oswegoland Park District’s Oswego Country Market in downtown Oswego. He was happy by the number of people who walked into the store that day. “We had a ton of people.”
Altrincham, UK | Altrincham vinyl shop Tasty Records announces sudden closure: It had opened on Regent Road in 2018. One of Altrincham’s most-loved independent businesses has shut up shop, with Tasty Records announcing its closure after eight years trading on Regent Road. Owner Ben Molesworth broke the news to customers via social media, describing the decision as “complicated” but saying the shop “deserves more than I can give it” after 14 years of selling records in Altrincham – including his time dealing in vinyl before the shop opened. In a heartfelt message to supporters, he was at pains to stress the closure is not the end: “Tasty Records isn’t dead—only sleeping.” …He is now inviting offers to take over the business, telling followers: “Send an offer to tastyrecordsaltrincham@gmail.com if you want to take over my awesome little record shop.”

Lincoln, UK | Meet the man who turned vast vinyl collection into Lincoln’s travelling record fair: Some years ago, Adrian Wells’ girlfriend was overwhelmed with the number of records he had in his collection. He said: “My girlfriend said, ‘You’ve got to do something about this, your collection is too big.’ “So, I changed my mindset. Instead of being a collector, I started thinking, if anyone’s going to offer me the right price I would sell it.” More than 25 years on, Adrian is one of the best-known vinyl dealers in Lincoln. His travelling record fair, AA Record Fairs, has hosted 500 events across the East Midlands over the last six years. His Lincoln events are huge affairs: one in April at the Waterside Shopping Centre saw 32 tables and stalls jam-packed with music by a vast range of artists and bands.
Sequim, WA | Sequim Record Show leaves good vibrations: The fourth annual Sequim Record Show on June 6 might have been the best one yet, according to organizer Gary Butler. “Every vendor was gushing with graciousness with how well it went,” he said. “Everything went smoothly and it was busy all day.” Some vendors already paid for tables at Sequim’s June 2027 show, Butler said. The Sequim Record Show sees vendors bring in vinyl albums, CDs, cassettes, and this year much more music memorabilia to sell inside the Guy Cole Event Center within Carrie Blake Community Park. This year had 25 vendors with 35-plus tables, including new vendor Audrey Armstrong from Port Angeles who seeks to sell her husband Tony’s extensive vinyl collection to help pay for his medical care and clear room in their garage for her daughter’s business.

There’s no TVs… The sound system is the centerpiece of the bar itself.”
The ‘Backrooms’ soundtrack is getting a vinyl release: The A24 movie has scored the studio’s biggest weekend and become a hit with horror fans. The soundtrack for hit horror film Backrooms is going to be pressed on vinyl later this summer. The A24 movie, about a psychiatrist searching for her client through a series of parallel dimensions, is proving to be a huge hit at the box office, bringing in $81.4million (£60.4million) in the US and $117.9 million (£87.5million) globally during the opening weekend alone. Now, the soundtrack is getting a vinyl release and is available to pre-order now. The 2LP release includes the film’s original score, composed by director Kane Parsons and Edo Van Breemen (The Monkey, Keeper), and is expected to ship this August.
