TVD Presents at The Grog Shop: Cursive, 3/29

In which we introduce a recurring feature here at TVD where Clevelanders, you have an opportunity to win free tickets right in your own backyard. —Ed.

Good day, guys and dolls! Have we got a treat for you. This Thursday, the Grog Shop is hosting a show featuring three great bands: Cursive, Cymbals Eat Guitars, and Conduits! We want to see YOU there so we’re giving away a pair of tickets to the show and a copy of Conduits’ new self-titled album.

I know, I know, you can barely contain yourself right now. It’s completely understandable. What could be better than free tickets to this great show at the Grog Shop AND a free album? Not much.

I mean, look at that lineup. Cursive is touring in promotion of their new album, I Am Gemini, a tale of twins separated at birth who are reunited. Of course, the catch is that one twin is evil and one is good. In this concept album, Cursive dabbles in painting the tale of the two brothers through the nuanced lyricism of Tim Kasher and the hard-hitting guitars and breakneck rhythm changes for which the band is known.

Supporting Cursive is another great band that’s boasting soaring guitars and curious vocals. I’m talking about Cymbals Eat Guitars, an indie-rock gem out of New York that has two albums under its belt and hopefully many more to come. Their most recent album, Lenses Alien, came out last August.

Rounding out the night is Omaha-based band Conduits, which paints a dreamscape through haunting female vocals and guitars laden with pedal-heavy kinetic energy waiting to burst into flames. Their new self-titled album is so good we’ve got our hands on a copy of that to go with your tickets to this show.

Intrigued? You ought to be. Here’s what you need to do to enter: leave a comment here and let me know your zodiac sign and how you embrace its traits. That simple. Winner will be notified on Thursday morning, so get busy!

Hey, I’m Lorna and I’m a Pisces. I embrace my intuitive and imaginative side and I’m also very secretive like a true Pisces!

I’m a taurus. I’m stubborn as hell. when I say I’m going to get something done, I do it and I do it well. I’m honest, trustworthy, smart, and logical. It seems as if horoscopes were written based off of my life.

Hey, I’m Megan and my zodiac sign is a Capricorn. I embrace Capricorn traits, such as ambitiousness, in my daily life. For example, my ambition has led me to enter this competition. However, my pessimism, another traditional Capricorn trait, gives me the feeling that my chances of winning are slim! Fortunately, my independence and laid-back attitude, (characteristic of Capricorns) allow me to accept the wins, the losses, and the in-betweens. Cursive is a delight, Tim Kasher is the man, if the stars align, the tickets will be in my hands!

I’m a Gemini, and I am Gemini. Starring.. Will Smith….and Will Smith. two twins, one good, one bad, must survive in an urban apocalyptic wasteland filled with CGI zombies…and survive each other. Watch them fight over who sleeps in the bed or the bathtub, and who ate all the rice krispies. Coming Summer 2013.

I am an almost cliché Gemini. It’s actually sort of ridiculous. I definitely have the dual personality/energy going on but not in a few creepy way. I like to think that I am simply multifaceted. For example, right now, at 6am, I am listening to Anthrax but by noon, I guarantee that I will be listening to Cursive (especially now that I am thinking about them). If this reasoning doesn’t increase my chances, perhaps “I am pregnant and haven’t been out in months, have pity on my soul!” will?
