TVD Ticket Giveaway: Gomez at 9:30 Club, 3/12

Gomez’s newest studio album Whatever’s On Your Mind may have been written while the band members were worlds apart, but their sound has never been more together.

They are reunited at last and playing at the 9:30 Club next Monday, March 12th.

We wouldn’t want you to miss out on the upbeat pop machine—we so love to be good to you and are giving away a pair of tickets to the show.

Gomez is celebrating 15 years of touring with The Quinceañera Tour, Celebrating 15 Years of Live Performances, and they’ve asked for some help choosing the set list for the show. Choose five songs you’d like to hear performed, and if your choices receive the most votes, they will be played! One of our choices would definitely be “Girlshapedlovedrug.”

Then to win your pair of tickets, tell us in the comment box below, a song you would—or do—play for comfort when you are a long way away from home.

For me it would have to be “Box of Rain” by the Grateful Dead. Instant inner peace and oafish smile.

We’ll choose our winner at noon on Friday, March 9th!

Going to California – Led Zeppelin.  It calms me and makes me whistful at the same time. It sends the message that you can ache when you leave your home but you can be going somewhere beautiful in its own right even though you leave home behind.

I love to listen to “Home” by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros!

When I was 13 I spent the summer on a small island in Greece with my Greek grandparents. One day when we were downtown, my grandfather gave me some money and told me I could buy anything. Craving some good ol’ rock and roll, I walked into the nearest CD store and purchased the first CD that caught my eye – Zeppelin’s BBC Sessions. “Thank You” made me feel like I was right back at home, cruising down 95 while my dad played the oldies radio station in the car. Now, whenever I find myself away from home and in need of some comfort, I play that song.

“Welcome Home” by Radical Face- everything about this song reminds me of home from the Melody to the Lyrics. Great song for anyone who is missing the comfort of their home!

I still listen to the mixtapes I created when I used to live in London back in the late 90s.  One of the songs I still enjoy listening to is ’78 Stone Wobble’ by Gomez.  Hope to hear them play it live again!

is it too cliche to say home by Edward Sharpe? Oh well.

LCD Soundsystem’s All My Friends really hits the spot lately.. what a great show at Merriweather a few years ago too!

Great, how am I going to top the Greek girl’s story?  Home for me = DC, so all silly brit bands (sorry Led Zeppelin) are out.  I’ll say Fugazi’s “waiting room”
