TVD Ticket Giveaway: DeVotchKa at the Sixth & I Synagogue, 9/13

Dig rhythmically expressive organic compositions that hint at complex musical knowledge but are still wrapped in an accesible pop package? Well, then do we have the show for you.

Refreshingly honest and infinitely endearing DeVotchKa will be playing at the 6th & I Historic Synagogue on September 13th, and we’ve got tickets to give away!

DeVotchKa has been kicking around since 1997 but didn’t come into the public eye until the mid-2000s with songs featured on movies and television shows like Everything is Illuminated, Weeds, and even being handpicked to compose the soundtrack to Little Miss Sunshine. Though they began as a backing band for burlesque shows and toured with Dita Von Tess, they slowly came into their own with critically acclaimed releases and a bitching cover of the Siouxsie and the Banshees song “The Last Beat of My Heart” featured on the 2006 EP Curse Your Little Heart.

Their most recent release is a full-length from last year entitled 100 Lovers and is an extended foray into dense organic texture covered by beautiful chord progressions and memorable vocal melodies.

So how can you score tickets to such an amazing show? It’s simple! In the comments below, tell us your favorite soundtrack curated by a noted musician or a band.

Since Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead can do no wrong, I’ll have to say my personal choice is his work on There Will Be Blood.

The winner will be chose at noon on Wednesday, September 12th.
