TVD Ticket Giveaway: Paul Weller at the 9:30 Club, 7/30

Over the course of a 36-year recording career Paul Weller has been the creative force behind two of the more important bands in British history, The Jam and The Style Council, while as a solo artist, his albums have continuously topped the UK charts.

The range and diversity of styles in his musical output is simply staggering—from punk to funk, jazz to rock, new wave to folk, and everything in between—making it impossible to categorize or classify Weller.

Nevertheless, as a songwriter, Paul Weller ranks among the greatest in British history while his voice has gotten deeper and more soulful with age. Indeed, no less a figure than Joe Strummer called Paul Weller “Britain’s number one soul singer.”

Paul Weller is returning to the US for a brief tour of the east coast this summer with three shows in the New York City area, along with shows in Boston, DC, and Philadelphia. Weller’s latest album, Sonik Kicks, debuted in March 2012 at #1 on the UK charts and has received rave reviews overseas since its arrival.

Weller’s East Coast tour follows several performances overseas including The Isle Of Wight and Hard Rock Calling in London, England. You can expect a wide range of his greatest songs spanning over his very successful career.
