Wednesdays at the Square announces
2015 lineup

Though the weather outside shows no indications of an early thaw, signs of spring are in the air. Louisiana citrus has disappeared from area farmer’s markets and the Young Leadership Council announced on Tuesday the eagerly awaited lineup for its perennially popular Wednesday afternoon concert series.

Marc Broussard, Irma Thomas, Dumpstaphunk, Marcia Ball (pictured at top), and The Revivalists are among the headliners for the 12-week concert series, beginning Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

Digging a little deeper into the lineup reveals some interesting combinations of performers. On Wednesday, May 6, Meschiya Lake opens for Earphunk. Both acts represent a new generation of performers. On May 13, Daria and the Hip Drops are the opening act for Dumpstaphunk. Daria and her band has been favorites of TVD writers in New Orleans since their first few shows.

Singer/songwriter Lynn Drury has been plugging away on the local scene for years. With a critically acclaimed new album that truly rocks, she is a natural to open for Marcia Ball on the Wednesday between Jazz Fest weekends.

The concerts will take place every Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, March 11 through May 27 in downtown New Orleans at Lafayette Square (between Camp Street and St. Charles Avenue, directly across from Gallier Hall). Here’s the full lineup.
