TVD Vinyl Giveaway: Elton John,
The Diving Board

Elton John is an artist who sits on a throne of No. 1 hits fueling his cultural influence. He’s been considered an icon for over forty years and continues to produce music and tour. So where does an artist go when they’re already at the top?

The answer is a return to form. Over the past few years, John has professed a reclaiming of the classic drums/bass/piano line-up that projected him into worldwide fame. In 2012, John released Good Morning to the Night, an album containing remixes of songs John wrote and recorded in the ’70s in his classic stripped-down style. The remixes were carefully put together by Australian dance pop duo Pnau, resulting in John’s first No.1 on the UK charts in over 20 years.

2013 sees the release of his first full-length album in seven years, The Diving Board. Still working with longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin, the album was produced by T-Bone Burnett with the idea that it would embrace the sound of classic Elton, with the unique feel he created and is known for. The album has been released on vinyl via Capitol Records, and we have one to give away to one lucky winner.

How can you get a hold of such a steal? It’s simple! In the comments below, tell us your favorite artist who has been making music for multiple decades. My answer is Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, who has been busy releasing music since the late ’80s.

One winner with a North American mailing address will be chosen on Friday, October 25.
