TVD’s The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel

Greetings from Laurel Canyon!

May has come with warm winds. The City of Angles has been fucking burning hot this week—close to one hundred degrees and new a record! Crazy 2014 weather…last weekend I took Jonah to his first baseball game. Believe or not it actually rained. Rain at Dodger Stadium? Did that really happen? I thought “it never rains in southern California?”

Last week rain, yesterday—what to do with melting vinyl? Hot nights flipping through crates in my garage, I started “digging and thinking” fast and faster…”may day, may day…”

After all was the first of May, so…bombs away!!

There it is. This week’s Idelic Hour muse. Songs about bombs, explosions, and blowing in the wind. “The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind…”

No fuck that, who knows what the answer is in 2014. All I know is I set out to make a rowdy and slightly different kind of Idelic Hour this week.

Maybe it’s been the rowdy shows of late. Last weekend I caught Black Sabbath at The Hollywood. Props to all “old rocker types.” Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler were flawless and inspiring. While Ozzy never ceased to amaze and entertain, the show’s kicker was the set list combined with a “rebuilt engine.” Sabbath’s young drummer Tommy Clufetos kicks the band back into the ’70s and made my week.

The guy played Sabbath like fucking Keith Moon! Clufetos performance was “the bomb” and made me want to just let it rip.

So, here it goes—bombs away: H-Bomb / On The Bombsite / I’m Gonna Blow You a Kiss in the Wind / Blowin’ Away / Bombed / Bombers / Love Like a Bomb / Blow My Cool / Overblown / Bombs Away / We Got The Neutron Bomb / Cherry Bomb / Letter Bomb / Bring Back The Bomb / You Dropped A Bomb on Me / Sex Bomb / Ha ha ha / Dirty Bomb August Mix / Boom Boom Boogie / Inside The World Of The Blues Explosion / Love Bomb / Heads Explode / Spanish Bombs / Atomic Bomb…
