TVD Vinyl Giveaway: Gold Motel Talking Fiction 7” Single

This Friday, December 23rd, Chicago-based quintet Gold Motel will be returning to the Windy City to take the stage at Lincoln Hall for their Hometown Holiday Show.

The all ages event kicks off at 7:00 PM with Chicago-area openers Chaperone and Deserters. Grab your tickets online for just $12 , and get $5 off any Gold Motel merchandise at the show if you bring a toy donation for Toys for Tots Chicago.

The anticipation of this holiday show has put us in the giving spirit, so we’ve got your chance to win a copy of Gold Motel’s amazing 7” release, Talking Fiction, which contains “Cold Shoulders” B/W “Slow Emergency.”

Formed and fronted by Greta Morgan (The Hush Sound), Gold Motel has been in the studio working on a new full-length album, which is due out this Spring.

In 2009, ending a year long stay in Southern California, Morgan returned to Chicago with the tracks that would eventually become Gold Motel’s self-titled EP. Initially a solo project, the sunny, West Coast, pop songs soon demanded the sounds of full band.

With the addition of Chicago music veterans Dan Duzsynzski, Matt Schuessler, Adam Kaltenhauser, and Eric Hehr, the Gold Motel EP was released at the Beat Kitchen to a sold out show. Following the release of their first full-length studio album Summer House, Gold Motel has been playing across the country, even taking the stage at last year’s Lollapalooza.

For a chance to win a vinyl copy of Gold Motel’s Talking Fiction 7”, simply share with us in the comments of this post, your favorite group with a powerful leading lady. I’m going to have to go with TVD Chicago favorites, The Pack a.d.

Please remember, only those of you with mailing addresses in the continental US and Canada can enter! The winner will be chosen on Friday (12/23).

Greta Morgan is the best leading lady of them all! Everything from The Hush Sound to now Gold Motel. Another great leading lady that's recently emerged is Florence from Florence & the Machine...leading ladies are the best!

I don't think there is any other person than Greta Morgan! I've been a fan of hers for 5 years, and i've loved her in every project she's been in (The Hush Sound, Razia's Shadow, Gold Motel) I'm always waiting impatiently for new music to come from her, and she has the most played songs on my ipod. I also love getting vinyl records, I just love the sound quality of vinyl, and having an actual hard copy of music, with artwork, lyrics, etc.

Definitely has to be Greta and Gold Motel. The winters in Chicago can be SO COLD but I'm sure if I pop on this album at any time this year it'll feel like summer.

Gold Motel and Greta Morgan. Greta's got a killer voice, and have you seen her on stage? Nobody else can pull off gold sequins quite like she does. I haven't stopped listening to Summer House & Talking Fiction since they were released. <3

Juliet Simms from Automatic Loveletter. Solid alternative pop/rock sound with real emotion and lyrical value.

Definitely Gold Motel, not to suck up! In honesty, the music makes me so happy; it always improves my mood! The improvement of my mood can be credited mostly in the fact that Greta is singing, and how smooth her voice is. I have yet to find a group as uplifting as their music is! It just reminds me of summer, which is great to keep my mind off of this cold Ohio winter.

I'd have to say Greta Morgan - The Hush Sound & Gold Motel. She has an awesome voice and I can't wait to see her again this year at SXSW.

I'd probably have to say The Yeah Yeah Yeahs

I'm going to have to go with Destry. Featuring Michelle Nolan (formerly of Straylight Run) the group released probably one of the best albums of the year, with "Waiting on An Island." She has an excellent voice and the songs are more powerful than your typical pop music fare.
