Home Sweet Home: DCWEEK Opening Party at the 9:30 Club Ticket Giveaway, 11/4

What better way to continue our Home Sweet Home District spotlight than to give you your very last chance to win free tickets to see eight DC bands tomorrow night?

You’ve been hearing about it on the DC blogosphere all week, but DCWEEK can be hard to describe. It’s a giant 8,000-person tech conference—full of hackathons, keynotes, and web developers shouting at eachother about web standards. But it’s also cooler than that. It’s also a party. At the 9:30 Club. With 1,200 of your closest friends.

Tomorrow, Friday, November 4th, DCWEEK kicks off with a riotous takeover of the 9:30 Club, and a lineup of DC-only music. Indie mavens Ra Ra Rasputin and Modern Man will be there. So will six other beloved local bands. DJ work from The State Department’s Aaron Baird and Socket Records’ Sean Peoples will ensure that everyone’s dancing. Check it out on Facebook.

Because we love you, we have two free tickets to giveaway. They’re normally $25, so act quickly, because they won’t last long. You’ve been seeing free tickets pop up all week around the area, but this is your very last chance to win a free pair.

To get you excited for the show on Friday, we have a video of “My Annoying Tendencies,” a track off Modern Man’s new EP Long in the Tooth. They’re bringing new songs and a keyboard ringer imported from the great state of Arizona.

For a chance to win a pair of tickets to tomorrow night’s show, tell us a song that reminds you of home.

We’re calling “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight” (The Postal Service) and “Home” (Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros). You’ll just have to work a little harder.

The winner will be chosen tomorrow, Friday, November 4th, at noon.
