TVD Recommends: Kingsley Flood with
Tom McBride at IOTA,
1/14 (plus Giveaway!)

Celebrating the release of their new EP Colder Still, Kingsley Flood pays a visit to the DMV by way of IOTA tomorrow night. The Vinyl District has long been following the trajectory of Kingsley Flood and are honored to introduce them before they hit the stage at this release party.

Kingsley Flood has been on a rampage—well known as one of the best live acts in Boston, their song “I Don’t Wanna Go Home” was featured as NPR’s Song of the Day last May.

Look for us there Saturday night and turn an ear to the exciting-yet-comforting folkrockicana sounds.

Opening for Kingsley Flood is Tom McBride, an angel-voiced Americana folk rock singer-songwriter who is a regular class act in the DC area and a regular IOTA showcase. Tom is from Boston but now calls DC his home—switching places with Naseem Khuri of Kingsley Flood who is from DC and now rocks Boston.

Tom’s second studio album A Brief Head Spin came out in 2011, and The Vinyl District will be giving away a 12″ to one lucky sumumubitch just because we love you, as well as the aforementioned Kingsley Flood Colder Still EP on CD.

Tom McBride – Into the Arms of the Wild-Eyed Young

Tom McBride – Underneath the Sheltering Sky

Comment us who you would want to switch places with right now (I for example want to switch places with anyone who is parahawking), and we will pick a winner a week from today, on Friday, January 20th. The winner must have a mailing address in North America.

I would like to switch places with none other than thee Cisco Adler.

Kingsley Flood deserves all the praise that's been heaped upon them...not only is the music strong and inspiring and insightful and intelligent...it rocks...the musicianship is tight, the arrangements are smart...and the energy is ramped up and contagious. In this day and age, it's terribly fulfilling to go see a band that actually strives to make a connection with the back of the room and sincerely believe in giving one helluva show...real sweat and pants-splitting jack knifes...GO! And then by their CD's...drink the KF Kool-Aid!
