TVD’s 10 Weeks of Record Store Day Vinyl Giveaways: The Naked and Famous, Passive Me, Agressive You

Apparently there’s some big Day this coming Saturday around which we’ve been foisting vinyl upon the collective masses for 10 weeks now, and we’ve got a bunch of stuff this last, 10th week that we’ll be offering up as a bit of a fireworks finale to the whole shebang.

Auckland, New Zealands’ The Naked and Famous released their debut LP Passive Me, Agressive You in 2010 on their own Somewhat Damaged label, and we’ve got a copy of the glorious picture disc edition to award one of you.

To say Passive Me, Agressive You was a bit of a success in the band’s native New Zealand is a bit of an understatement, it seems. In 2011, the band garnered six nominations at the New Zealand Music Awards for Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Group, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best Alternative Album and the People’s Choice Award.

They were also nominated for the NZ On Air Best Music Video and won the MAINZ Best Engineer Award and the MAINZ Best Producer Award.

No small feat, hm?

Enter to win the the lovely piece of vinyl you see above by leaving us a comment to this post with your choice of a debut release that garnered similar critical and fan-based reactions. I’ll go with that little debut release by Guns ‘N Roses. (That one did OK, right?)

You’ve got a week to name your choice of killer debut. We’ll choose one winner with a North American mailing address next Monday, April 23—while you’re nursing your RSD2012 hangovers.

This is a hard one for me. I’m going to go with Norah Jones’ debut ‘Come Away With Me’. You can’t hardly beat a debut album that sells over 20 million. It’s definitely a classic for me, and one I often go back to listen.
