Gossip, A Joyful Noise

Everything about Gossip screams glamour, from their dance-punk beats to powerhouse frontwoman, Beth Ditto.

Three years ago, Gossip’s Rick Rubin-produced breakthrough album Music for Men broke through in a major way, catapulting the trio from Olympia, Washington to phenom status both in the US and overseas.

Gossip’s fifth album, A Joyful Noise (released just this week!) sees the band poised for a serious return with a newly released video for their latest single “Move in the Right Direction” and the May 22 live stream of their record release show at Terminal 5. A Joyful Noise revolves around Ditto’s heart-stopping vocals and further develops Gossip’s sleeker, disco-referencing sound they’ve been moving toward on previous releases.

Considering Gossip’s grittier beginnings as opening acts for Sleater-Kinney and the White Stripes, the aggressive pop of A Joyful Noise shows Gossip taking a step away from the blues and post-punk that influenced their earlier recordings toward shiny electronica that would fit perfectly in any DJ set or on any dancefloor.

To celebrate Gossip’s return, we’re giving away an autographed copy of Gossip’s brand new album A Joyful Noise, a Gossip poster, and a Gossip t-shirt.

To win this deluxe Gossip bundle, leave a comment with your all-time favorite dance track. We’ll choose one winner with a North American mailing address a week from today, 5/31!

It’ll always be Blue Monday. Those first few bars of bass drum set it off every time!

I hesitate to admit it, but “Round Round” by Sugababes. I hang my head in shame.

Just Like Heaven by the Cure.  Hey, at least I’m dancing to it anyway.

Relax  – Frankie Goes To Hollywood. You can’t help but move your head to the thumping bass.

I’m really into Renegade’s track “Terrorist”.

A great dance track is the A-Trak remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Heads Will Roll.”
