TVD Premiere:
Velcro Lewis Group,
“Jingle Jangle Morning”

Funk rock occultists, Velcro Lewis Group are back with more soul drenched, acidic rock ‘n’ roll for the retro revivalist to applaud—the type of music that conjures up festival life circa 1969 without losing its inherent originality; zesty lyricism over precision grooves.

Falling somewhere between P-funk and Big Brother and the Holding Company, VLG’s newest single “Jingle Jangle Morning” rockets out of the speakers like a lost nugget on a brave mission into the twenty-tens. Each member of the five-piece band is pushing full throttle here with complete control over their respective roles. Needless to say, the front man and singing drummer with a 5-octave range sound as good on record as they do on paper.

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest this Jingle Jangling has something to do with early morning sexual yearning. The band has written a verse to accompany the song which perhaps says it best: “Long sunny days spent drinking on the patio. Sweaty dance floors at 4 am bars. Rick James blasting through car stereos. Last call hookups with one-time lovers.”

The native Chicago troop are releasing “Jingle Jangle Morning” as an A and B side with an instrumental version on the “flip”—just in case you want to Jingle Jangle all night long.

Velcro Lewis Group’s 2013 release Open the Sky is available right here from our friends at Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records.
