UK Artist of the Week: Lowla

The ’90s have been returning in a big way recently and we can’t say we’re complaining… just yet. Synth-pop duo Lowla are championing the ’90s pop revival with their infectious melodies, and we felt in only right to honour them with our Artist of The Week title.

Lowla was formed by producer Lo and creative stylist Lara—see what they did there? The girls met when Lara appeared as a guest vocalist on a session that Lo was producing. Lo was immediately impressed by Lara’s performance and shortly after asked her to work on a project of their own. Together, they’ve combined their musical capabilities and love of all things denim to create the dynamic duo, Lowla.

Their debut single “Reckless” is a song about heartbreak—with a difference. Instead of crying, the girls take a punk-rock attitude and stick the middle finger up to their lost love. The track is woven with catchy synth-pop beats which fans of Sky Ferreira and Grimes will feel at home with. Watch this space—these girls mean business.

“Reckless” is out March 31, 2016 via DIY.
