TVD’s The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel

Greetings from Laurel Canyon!

I started the year off on Monday at a jog. It’s Friday and I’m running already and about to sprint into the first weekend of 2011. With Mercury coming out of retrograde on the 30th and a new year on the following eve, there is an overwhelming feeling of optimism and change in air. Granted, there are reports of dead birds dropping from the sky.

Change can be scary, but may I calmly suggest the future will more likely sound like REM’s “End Of The World As We Know It” than doomsday. Hey, I for one “feel fine” today.

With that in mind let’s spread the love and good vibes in 2011 with The Idelic Hour! This week is a salute to our host The Vinyl District and our Washington, DC based TVD creator, Jon Meyers’ 2011 initiative to expand the site. Our community has grown with nine new affiliate cities! I for one am interested and amazed to be connected to these “rockers” around the world.

The prospect immediately brought the classic song, “Route 66” to mind. When I think of the song I always hum The Rolling Stones’ version. I like to think Keith Richards playing Chuck Berry riffs took the dawn of rock n roll to a bright and sunny morning!

Idelic “Get Your Kicks” is a musical journey moving from town to town, style to style, and generation to generation. As it is a new year, the mix is weighted with a shower of new artists making potential Idelic Hits. Let it Roll, TV Girl, Esben and The Witch, Anna Calvi, Givers, New Mexico, Yuck, and The Shutes.

2011 here we are!
