“Here’s the bugger of it: musicians either like what they see or they’re embarrassed because they’ve become a living extension of their parents music.
I was fortunate in that my first experience involved a record called Switched On Bach by Trans-Electronic Music Productions. It consisted of Bach classics composed on analogue synthesizers. What a mind blower for a 6 year old! My fortune? If I were to become an extension of my parents music, it would be due only to their ownership of that album.
More likely I had become an extension of my great great great great great great great great grandparents music performed by HAL 9000. Put that in your bowl and smoke it.

Providing it’s recorded to some type of medium and preserved, music is always living. Perhaps certain music is outdated to some and new to others.
My first encounter with vinyl wasn’t romantic. I was 6. But what followed was an absurd combination of agreed classics mixed with oddball one-off comps and impossible soundtrack spinners. And yes, some of it did involve my parents music.
And for that, I thank them.”
