Weekend Shots!

Hey, Memphis! How’s November treating you? Weather for sweaters is reason enough to get out there and do something fun.

This weekend we’ve got you getting crunk to hip hop beats, checking out a release for a Memphis country charmer, and reliving the old days with one of Memphis’ best acts from the past. Hope you’ve got your Bill Cosby attire ready—it’s time for some weekend shots!

Friday (11/9) brings the beats with DJ Quickie Mart coming to Hi-Tone Cafe. The Beatmaker who’s known for both his remixes and for backing rappers like Devin the Dude and Know One will joined by Unicorn Fukr and Memphis DJ Glitch Doctor, giving you a long night of dancing like a robot. (Everybody still does that, right?)

Memphis Country/Soul singer-songwriter Megan Myles is having a release show for her EP Wheels Within Wheels at Minglewood Hall. The singer-songwriter recorded the effort here in town at Royal Studios with famed producer Boo Mitchell, giving the songs plenty of soul to spare.

Saturday (11/10) brings more Memphis music with the 25th anniversary show of Memphis rock band Tora Tora at the New Daisy. The band rose in the mid ’80s with crotch rock tunes that pushed their debut upto the 47th spot on the billboard charts. Come out to relish in the best of Memphis music from yesteryear.
