School of Rock, The Musical, The Original Broadway Cast Of School Of Rock | Warner Bros. Records will release the Original Cast Recording for School of Rock, The Musical on December 4th. It features songs from the immensely popular 2003 film, School of Rock.

Three-time Grammy Award-winner Rob Cavallo, who has worked with Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Goo Goo Dolls, Phil Collins, and Gary Clark Jr., produced the album along with Andrew Lloyd Webber. The album features the songs in the stage production, as well as three songs from the film. All original songs are written by Lloyd Webber and Slater.

Sam Amidon, But This Chicken Proved Falsehearted (Translucent Blue Vinyl, Includes Download Card) | Before Sam Amidon’s acclaimed albums for Nonesuch Records and Bedroom Community, he’d released a few on his own. After a collection of traditional Irish instrumentals, Amidon (as samamidon) delivered his true “debut” But This Chicken Proved Falsehearted. Recorded in 2005 with longtime collaborator Thomas Bartlett (Mumford & Sons, Sufjan Stevens, The National, David Byrne), Vermont-born Amidon re-imagines traditional songs alongside covers as diverse as Mississippi John Hurt to Tears For Fears, and rearranges them into his own unique and mesmerizing compositions.

Unavailable for years, original copies now sell for top dollar on the collectors market. Nearly a decade later, But This Chicken Proved Falsehearted finally receives the reissue it deserves. Featured on the CD and Digital reissue are the album’s original 13 tracks as well as 10 demos from the ’05 recording sessions. Plus, But This Chicken Proved Falsehearted makes its first appearance on vinyl with a limited initial pressing on translucent blue vinyl, black to follow. The LP also contains a download card for the entire CD program of original tracks and bonus demos.

For those who may have only heard about it, to those who have heard it and want to share or re-experience it again, But This Chicken Proved Falsehearted returns. Don’t make the mistake of missing it again.

Coldplay, A Head Full Of Dreams (2LP 180 Gram Pink & Blue Vinyl with Digital Download) | As Rolling Stone noted in anticipation of its arrival, “After last year’s introspective Ghost Stories, which reflected frontman Chris Martin’s separation from wife Gwyneth Paltrow, Martin has said Coldplay are seeking “something colorful and uplifting” for their seventh LP.

“It’s hard to perfect a happy song,” he confessed recently. “Pharrell managed it. Stevie Wonder managed it. Bill Withers managed it. I haven’t managed it yet.” The band has been holed up in London with Norwegian production duo Stargate, who’ve produced hits for Rihanna, Beyoncé and Katy Perry (and Coldplay’s 2014 one-off “Miracles”). Adding to the mystery, Martin has said A Head Full of Dreams could be their finale. “It’s like the last Harry Potter book or something,” he said recently. “Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something.”

Johnny Marr, Adrenalin Baby (2LP, Limited Edition Pink Vinyl) | Johnny Marr will release his debut live solo album Adrenalin Baby on October 9th, Adrenalin Baby documents his energetic live performances over the past three years across a double album.

Adrenalin Baby was recorded primarily at his Brixton Academy and Manchester Apollo shows during Johnny’s Playland tour in support of his Top 10 solo albums The Messenger and Playland. In addition to material from his solo albums, Adrenalin Baby also features takes on The Smiths’ classics “The Headmaster Ritual,” “Bigmouth Strikes Again,” “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out,” and “How Soon Is Now?.” The collection is completed by Electronic’s “Getting Away With It” and Johnny’s interpretation of “I Fought The Law.”

“I wanted to capture the atmosphere and feeling of the last couple of tours,” says Johnny. “It’s been a special time and the album is a document for fans who were there, and for people who haven’t seen me and might want to check out what the shows are about. I like live records when they’re a good listen, It’s turned out really well.”

Released on digital, LP, limited edition and numbered pink coloured double-vinyl with a poster.

Ashley Monroe, The Blade:
A TVD Record Store Club Signed Vinyl Giveaway

When it comes to country music, Ashley Monroe has a deep-seated fear—that she won’t feel a damn thing. For the Tennessee-born singer, whose passion for traditional country is matched only by her gift for crisp, clever songwriting, music has to elicit a palpable response. Or else?

“It’s just noise,” she says. “Country music is so special to me, it scares me if I hear a song and I don’t feel anything. It really throws me for a loop.”

Monroe is convinced that country fans have a similar reaction and also seek something meaningful in their music. So when she sat down to write her new album The Blade, released on Warner Music Nashville, she committed herself to finding songs that would make both her and her audience cry, laugh, think and, metaphorically, bleed.

“Every track will cut you in a different way,” Monroe says, nodding to the album’s title.

The Blade is the follow-up to 2013’s critically acclaimed Like a Rose, which included the sublime—and alternatingly bawdy and poignant—singles “Weed Instead of Roses,” “You Got Me,” and the title track. The album was named the top country record of that year by Billboard, Rolling Stone and The New York Times, and helped recognize Monroe as one of the genre’s most respected talents. She’s performed with artists ranging from the Raconteurs and Train to Wanda Jackson and Blake Shelton, and is an indispensable component of the acclaimed trad-country trio Pistol Annies.

With The Blade, Monroe views the album as Like a Rose’s Chapter 2, but says she’s a much more direct person than she was when writing that project.

“The first record is me. That’s the roots, the base of me. And I had a good vision for that,” she says, “but I’ve grown since that first record and I have an even more clear vision. I know what I want and it’s ok to say what I want.”

Produced by Vince Gill and Justin Niebank, who also oversaw Like a Rose, the new album features soulful lead single “On to Something Good,” written with Barry Dean and Luke Laird. Driven by a Muscle Shoals backbeat, the song is Monroe at her most upbeat. Which surprises even her.

We’ve got 2 autographed copies of Ashley Monroe’s The Blade to award to 2 TVD Record Store Locator App users! Simply cite your TVD app’s social name in the comments below and tell us why Ms. Monroe’s The Blade should find a home in your vinyl collection.
