The Rocketboys at
The Hi-Tone, 8/1

Start your August off right with a healthy dose of melodic (and a little ambient) indie rock. The Rocketboys are making their oft Memphis appearance at The Hi-Tone this Monday, August 1st alongside our very own Jeremy Stanfill.

The Rocketboys are from Austin but have strong ties to Memphis (lead singer Brandon Kinder is originally from our fair town). The band seems to have been on a little hiatus of sorts lately, but hopefully there’s more music in the works. Show of the Week: Amy LaVere Record Release @ The Levitt Shell 07/16/11

No doubt our city’s top recent export, Amy LaVere, will be having her album release show Saturday night, July 16th at the Levitt Shell.

LaVere’s new record, Stranger Me, was recorded and produced here in town by Craig Silvey, an American engineer and producer living in London, most notable for mixing Arcade Fire’s Grammy award-winning album The Suburbs. And this record looks like it may very well be the game changer for LaVere’s career, as she’s already been overseas promoting and playing for folks and buzz has been spreading like crazy about the album. SPIN named it their break up album of the year and it’s gotten great reviews from Q Magazine, The Sun, and Daily Mirror.
