No doubt our city’s top recent export, Amy LaVere, will be having her album release show Saturday night, July 16th at the Levitt Shell.
LaVere’s new record, Stranger Me, was recorded and produced here in town by Craig Silvey, an American engineer and producer living in London, most notable for mixing Arcade Fire’s Grammy award-winning album The Suburbs. And this record looks like it may very well be the game changer for LaVere’s career, as she’s already been overseas promoting and playing for folks and buzz has been spreading like crazy about the album. SPIN named it their break up album of the year and it’s gotten great reviews from Q Magazine, The Sun, and Daily Mirror.
LaVere’s got some special guests up her sleeves for the show, which is sure to be a blast with all the great local talent she’s used to having surround her. Gates open at 8pm, show’s at 9. The event is free, but you can support Amy with donations at the show or by buying the record. Also, you can bring coolers with your drink of choice OR purchase from our very own Ghost River, who’ll be on site.
