TVD Recommends: Unicycle Loves You Record Release Show at the Empty Bottle, 2/13

Whether you like it or not, Valentine’s Day is less than a week away, and a whole day dedicated to love can be pretty tough if you’re all by your lonesome. Fortunately, with the V-Day release of their latest record, one Chicago band wants to remind all of the broken-hearted souls out there that Unicycle Loves You.

Failure, the latest release from the indie-rock trio is due out on Mecca Lecca Recording Co., 2/14. This is the part where I highly recommend that you head to The Empty Bottle on Monday night for the free Record Release Party.

If you need any convincing on top of the word “free,” just check out the newly released music video for the track “Piranha.” Once you’ve been won over, you can get the full show details and confirmed tour dates below.

The third full-length release from Unicycle Loves You, Failure is anything but. After their studio-mastered, self-titled 2008 debut, front man Jim Carroll took control of the recording process to more closely emulate the home-recording feel.

An evolution of the band’s vision and influences, Failure combines dirty indie-rock with dreamy pop music for an incredible sound.

While the record may come across as the group’s heaviest album, some of the tracks are truly pop works of art. Case in point: take a listen to the contagiously fun “Wow Wave Cinema”.

The free show kicks off at 9:30 PM at The Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave. Unicycle Loves You will be supported by Lightfoils and The Grooks
