TVD Concert Preview:
White Rabbits at
Rock and Roll Hotel,
Sun 2/27

Once upon a time, not too long ago, I was a pretty decent runner. I was never especially fast, but whereas most people run a few miles a few times a week, I would regularly run 10+ miles, always at sunset, returning home right after the street lamps would come on.

I ran in a few races: a couple of 5, 10, and 12Ks, and finally, a half marathon, and I did alright. Any runner or other athlete knows that the music that you play while in the zone can directly affect your performance, and I was lucky enough to always compete in races that allowed portable music players.

The first song that was at the top of every playlist of every race that I ran was White Rabbits’ “Percussion Gun.”

Taking a break from recording a new album, White Rabbits will be playing the Rock and Roll Hotel on Sunday (2/27), with Caveman, as the last stop on their short February East Coast tour. Tickets are going fast!

When I was racing, I would time my start with “Percussion Gun’s” wild cackling, and by the time the indie-rockers belted out, “SO IIIII KNOW WHICH WAY YOU RUN / You’re tired my love / I feel the same,” I could feel myself starting to mentally shift into race mode. The drum beats were echoed by my heart, and by my feet. Like Alice in Wonderland (and yes, that’s where they got their name), I was following White Rabbits. Hurry, hurry now. Come join me.
