TVD Recommends: Marcātus + OUTSIDE at Yards Park, Sunday

The Marcātus Art Market and OUTSIDE are teaming up (again) this Sunday (6/5) to bring you an arts and music experience like no other. (Plus food and drink!)

This incredible event is a collaboration between Art Whino, 88, FORWARD DC, Lil Soso Productions, and One Love Massive.

Sunday, June 5th
11am – 6pm
The Yards Park
10 Water Street SE DC
(One Block South of N and 3rd Streets SE)
Event is FREE and open to the public
Dogs on leashes also welcome!

I was first tipped off to this event last month when my friend and talented local artist Rose Richey began selling her beautiful wares there.

And after seeing all the other friends that we have who are involved, I had to get the word out.

We’ve had the pleasure of viewing Art Whino’s amazing G40 Art Exhibit at vitaminwater® uncapped LIVE, where we will be holding the DC Record Fair tomorrow with Som Records and DC Soul Recordings.

I’ve partied with those 88 guys, and they know how to throw down, plus their lineup includes Lovegrove’s ALL VINYL CloudWatch Set. We loooove whenever we get to say *ALL VINYL* DJ SET!

And the One Love Massive setlist includes our friends Fatback DJs, Moon/Bounce DJs, and Empresarios DJs.

We just spent a week dancing, singing, hugging with Empresarios and the other Fort Knox Recordings artists who took over U Street Music Hall for the Memorial Weekend Blowout last Sunday.

Empresarios | Pereo Intenso (DJ Sabo Remix)

Empresarios | Mo’ Glo Radio

The Moon/Bounce DJs were featured on last month’s Spinning the Truth column as a “hybrid of vinyl and computer, a union of eclectic and fresh.”

Moon/Bounce DJs: JohnJazz | House Party Mix

Moon/Bounce DJs: Ender | Drums and Flowers

And the Fatback DJ collective are our new friends through our DC Record Fair co-conspirator, DC Soul Recordings.

I doubt you need any more convincing besides all these fresh jams, but just in case…

STRIVE DC helps chronically unemployed people in the Washington, DC area transform their lives through employment. The program helps people find and keep employment through three programs. The first is the core STRIVE Job Readiness program through which participants receive job-readiness training, personal assistance in job placement and two years of supportive services. The training and two-year follow-up set STRIVE DC apart from other employment programs. Together they produce low-cost, fast entry into the workforce and high job retention rates. Second is the STRIVE For Success (SFS) fast-track GED program. This innovative program helps young DC residents, aged 16-25, quickly prepare for and earn their GED in a classroom style setting. The third program, Career Gear, provides professional clothing to men seeking work. All the services are provided free-of-charge to participants.

See you all there on Sunday!
