TVD Ticket Giveaway: Death Cab For Cutie
w/ Frightened Rabbit
at MPP, 8/7

When it comes to creating swoon-worthy indie rock, Ben Gibbard and the rest of Death Cab For Cutie are a few of the men among boys. With seven studio albums spanning over ten years, the band arguably caught their “big break” back in 2003 with Trasatlanticism and songs such as “The Sound of Settling,” “The New Year,” and “Title and Registration.”

Even though the band has put those songs three albums behind them, we hope they will break out a few of the classics for their upcoming show at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Sunday (8/7), for which we happen to have a pair of lawn tickets to give away!

We know some tracks from Narrow Stairs and the band’s latest record, Codes and Keys, will certainly get some playing time, but I believe the song “Crooked Teeth” will be most deserving to be played at this outdoor summer show as it begins,”It was 100 degrees as we sat beneath a willow tree…” Well, that and “Summer Skin.”

Joining Death Cab will be Frightened Rabbit, a Scottish indie pop quintet. Warbling, ambient, and overall a little raw, Frightened Rabbit sounds like Death Cab’s younger brother that is adorably attempting a slight imitation of the eldest, despite not having quite finished puberty.

For a chance to win these tickets, give us in the comments below, a favorite song from your angsty teenage years.

I’m going to go with “Blue and Yellow” by The Used.

The winner will be chosen Friday (8/5) at noon and must confirm via email by 3pm that day.
